Find peace.Find happiness.Find yourself

I want to share my stories as a social worker, tips I learn along the way, and encouraging thoughts to help motivate others.

Seemingly Small

When we ask someone if they are okay
let us be kind
and authentic
and
compassionate

Not because we are supposed to
but because we are all struggling in some large or small way
and we need each other to lean on

Do you ever notice when people say they’re okay
but they have sadness in their voice and pain in their eyes
and you just know they feel alone

How many people think they have to feel that loneliness
instead of asking for a listening ear
because the thought of asking for help
seems to be a more difficult task than living with the pain
and what a tragedy that is

Let us be gentle with others
because we have no idea what our seemingly small acts of kindness
are doing for those we didn’t know
had that much pain to bare

  3. Holidays that fall on a Monday
  4. Watching your plants grow
  5. Heated car seats
  6. Making a donation to a good cause
  7. New pillows
  8. Tears of joy
  9. When slow drivers move over to allow you to pass them
  10. When your flight is on time

if being alone…

if being alone
can teach you anything
let it teach you

how to be resilient
when you need it most

how to move on
when there’s nothing left to wait for

how to rely on yourself
because no one else is there

how to accept that what’s meant for you
won’t reach you while you’re waiting for something else

how to be confident
standing out in a crowd

how to accept yourself
without approval from those around you

how to let go
and wait to see what magic unfolds

but above all
let the loneliness teach you how to value yourself

before handing yourself over
to everyone else
